Winter Wonderland

This is the view from my back balcony of some of the weather Texas has been experiencing this past week! Its been ice everywhere! The trees have been frozen and icicles were hanging off everything. Walking home was a combination of skating down the pavement and trudging up the middle of the road trying to dodge traffic!!! Despite 5 layers of clothing i was still cold!! Ive thawed out now and last count still had all fingers and toes, so no frostbite yet!!

Its Wheely good to be mobile

Hello
This is my new set of wheels to cruise the streets (and non streets) of San Antonio, and the rest of Texas when I venture on the freeway.
Looking forward to summer when i can try out the soft top!

Who gave Eldon crabs???

Yesterday, Eldon went out fishing with our good friend Don in the Cambridge Gulf. They were meant to stay out overnight, but the sea was way too rough. So they spent the day exploring various creeks, rivers and estuaries.....and went fishing of course! He caught a golden catfish (the photo of which is not available for viewing because it's head was cut off before I could get one....Eldon's excuse for not taking one was that he didn't want to get fish guts on the camera. Likely excuse!) But....they did bring home a few mud crabs....they were all tied up already because I guess they were very agressive. Now all we have to worry about is finding a pot that's big enough to steam them in!

Back-tracking....

Christmas in the heat of the Kimberley summer...

This was our first christmas without any family around, but we still managed to have a great time with our friends.
Christmas Day was spent eating (of course) and relaxing.
On Boxing Day we got up early and went out on Lake Argyle with some of our friends, Don and Louise Major. It wasn't a particularly good day weather-wise, so we didn't go far. We found a nice little inlet to have morning tea and ended up staying there quite a while. A few of us hiked up to the top of the hill and got a view of the rest of the lake. However, this picture only shows the very beginning of the lake...this is one huge body of water! The little inlet you see is where the boats are...you can just see the little white specks down there. It was a really good climb and beautiful view when I got up there.
So, Christmas in the summer isn't so bad after all...
Hmmm...this is pretty exciting stuff. I'm joining the ranks of bloggers...seems like such a good idea since we are scattered about! Hopefully I'll get some time to put pictures on and you can have a look at our scenery during the wet season.
